Thanks to our volunteers, donors, and shelter staff, we have been able to help Grass Valley / Nevada City Animal Shelter with some needed improvements — making it easier to find, more inviting to visitors, and more spacious for cats.

Our volunteers and donors helped us renovate the Grass Valley / Nevada City Animals Shelter in 2023. The goal was to make the shelter easier to find, more inviting to visitors, and provide more space for cats. See our fun video here!

Mother's Comfort Project
Our Mother's Comfort Project worked with Bright Futures for Youth to sew new beds for the animals.
Swazzle Puppet Studio Mural
A mural featuring donors' beloved pets was painted by Swazzle Puppet Studio artists. The mural features over 40 dogs, cats, birds, and a turtle — making shelter guests feel the love.

Catio Grand Opening
The Catio Grand Opening was celebrated by the city of Grass Valley — a milestone for the shelter and the animals who now enjoy fresh air and sunshine.
Animal Guardian Awards
Rational Animal honored donors, volunteers, and shelter staff with Animal Guardian Awards for their good deeds for at-risk animals.
